Cittaslow on the Menu

This month we feature our first video of “Cittaslow on the Menu”. One of the mandates of Cittaslow is to promote our local farmers and local products. This time Cittaslow is delighted to show the real meaning behind local grown products on menus at restaurants that are serving this delicious local food.
We visited Farm Table Inn , a charming Bed & Breakfast, Restaurant and Farm, located in the Cowichan Valley, just outside of Duncan.
Owners Evelyn Koops and George Gates are role models for the Cittaslow philosophy. They are both very passionate about food and where it comes from. That is why they serve much of the produce from their own farm as well as sourcing other local products.
They have many chickens and roosters that have the real freedom to run around on their beautiful farm property. On our recent visit to the farm, where we enjoyed our dinner, one of the roosters appeared in front of the windows peeking into the restaurant to see if we were happy with the eggs from the chicken coop!!
