Our final nominee for the “Cittaslow Brock McLeod Best Farm Practices“ award is the Cowichan Milk Company a family farm in the Cowichan Valley milking 50 Holstein cows and raising our own calves and heifers. They grow all our own grass to feed our cows year-round with some purchased grain and alfalfa. Their goal is to take the very best care of our cows as they rely on us and we rely on them.
For many years Margie and Ben vanBoven talked about the possibility of pasteurizing, bottling, and selling their own milk and with their son Matthew joining the farm it seemed like now was the time. Planning started in 2012 and now almost six years later we are happy to say that our dream is becoming a reality as Cowichan Milk Company!
Soon they will give you the freshest, tastiest, highest-quality milk that you have ever served you and your family. From their farm to your table.
The “ Cittaslow Brock McLeod Best Farm Practices “award
will be presented on February 7 at the Ocean Front Hotel in Cowichan Bay at our annual AGM. Starting at 7pm – more infos coming soon: https://cittaslowcowichan.com
