On behalf of Nick Versteeg President of Cittaslow Cowichan: I would like to invite you to our annual Cittaslow AGM. On this evening we will hand out two
prestigious Cittaslow awards.”The Cittaslow Environmental” award and the “Cittaslow Brock McLeod Best farm Practices”award
This will be my final meeting as your president. As of this moment no one has stepped forward to take over and I hope that at the AGM
someone will step forward and take over the leadership.
Cowichan Bay was the first North American community to get the Cittaslow designation, so please let us not be the first one to lose
this very significant honour. With the variety of boards we had over the years we have done our best to not only promote Cowichan Bay and the area of Cowichan
but also made people aware of the issues that we have. Not every idea worked but we tried.
It is time that the variety of groups in Cowichan come together and work together. I hope we will see the members of these groups at our AGM
give suggestions, and come with ideas on how to make this village what it was when I moved here.
Like one of the 14 Dutch journalist that I showed around five years ago said” Nick you got a Gem here, what a great funky village”
Our board is looking forward seeing you on February 7, 2019- 7:00 pm at the Ocean Front Hotel in Cowichan Bay. The awards are going to be very special and we hope you all make time to come out and also please do consider stepping up. It is a great cause and it is integral to to the lives of so many of us.
Nick Versteeg President of Cittaslow Cowichan
